What you will need

You do not need anything official to get started. To give you the most accurate quote, it helps to have a few details to hand:

  • The ages of everyone to be covered β€” premiums in Spain are mainly age-based;
  • Your nationality and roughly where in Spain you will live;
  • Whether the cover is for a visa (and which one) or for general use;
  • Any consulate appointment date, so we can prioritise your certificate;
  • Anything we should know, such as pre-existing conditions or specific needs like dental or maternity.

What happens after you submit

Our process is simple and there are no surprises:

  • 1. You send the form. It reaches our English-speaking team and we review your situation.
  • 2. We come back with options. Usually the same day, with a clear quote from the insurers we work with and an explanation of what each plan includes. Visa applicants are matched to no-copayment cover that meets the usual requirements.
  • 3. You decide. If you go ahead, we set the policy up and issue your certificate of cover for the consulate. There is no pressure and no obligation at any stage.

Why use us

We are an independent, English-language service, so we are not tied to a single insurer β€” we compare across the insurers we work with and explain the trade-offs neutrally. Everything is handled in English, seven days a week, and for visa cases we make sure the policy and certificate meet what most consulates ask for. You can read more about how health insurance in Spain works, what it typically costs, or how to compare cover before you decide.

On pricing: premiums vary by age, plan and insurer, and any figures are indicative only until an insurer confirms acceptance. Final cover is subject to insurer acceptance and policy terms.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a quote cost?

Nothing. Requesting a quote is free and there is no obligation to take out a policy. We will only contact you about the cover you asked about.

How quickly will I hear back?

We usually reply the same day during working hours, often within a couple of hours. If you have a consulate appointment coming up, mention the date and we will prioritise it.

What information do I need to get a quote?

Just the basics: the ages of everyone to be covered, your nationality, roughly where in Spain you will live, and whether the cover is for a visa or for general use. The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote.

Will the quote be in English?

Yes. Everything is handled in plain English by an English-speaking team, including the policy explanation and any visa certificate.

Is the price I am quoted final?

Any figures are indicative only until an insurer confirms acceptance. Premiums depend mainly on age and plan β€” see what cover costs β€” and final cover is subject to insurer acceptance and policy terms.

Can I get cover that works for a Spanish visa?

Yes. Tell us your visa type and we will focus on no-copayment cover that most consulates require, with a certificate for your file. Requirements vary by consulate and can change, so always confirm your case. See the visa requirements.

Do I need an NIE or to be a resident to get cover?

You can request a quote and arrange private cover from insurers authorised in Spain whether or not you are resident yet. To finalise a policy you usually need an NIE (your Spanish foreigner's number) β€” if you do not have one yet, tell us and we will guide you. For a residency visa you will need no-copayment (sin copago) cover. More for foreigners in Spain.

Can I add my partner and children to the same quote?

Yes. Choose the number of people to cover on the form and add each person's date of birth (and their relationship to you). We will quote for everyone together so you can see the full cost. See options for families.

Why do you ask for my date of birth?

Premiums in Spain are mainly age-based, so we need each person's age to give an accurate price rather than a rough guess. Nothing else about your date of birth is shared. You can read more about what cover costs.

Will pre-existing conditions affect my cover?

Not usually a barrier, but a declared condition can affect the price or be subject to specific terms, and this varies by insurer and policy. Mention anything relevant in the form and we will explain your options. See our guide to pre-existing conditions.

Can I choose when my cover starts?

Yes β€” tell us your preferred start date on the form. For visa cases we can arrange fast cover once your policy is confirmed and issue your certificate for the consulate. Certificates cannot be backdated, so allow time before your appointment.

What happens if my visa is refused?

Many insurers let you cancel with a pro-rata refund of unused premium if your visa is refused, on production of the refusal letter β€” exact terms vary by insurer and policy. Ask us and we will confirm the cancellation terms before you commit.
